Use two buckets, one with mildly soapy water, one with just water. Use a washcloth or rag, not a sponge. Rinse the washcloth in the plain water one after every use, and then use the soapy water to wash. Use a dry cloth to dry the wall as you go...this will remove any dirty water that remains on the wall.
