What would you recommend washing/cleaning dirt of walls with?

I just moved into a brand new place and upon moving in my furniture rubbed up against the walls leaving small dirt stains and scrapes in different areas of the house. The walls are light beige. I wiped off one stain with water and a cloth but it seemed like the paint was coming off on the cloth as well. I just wanted to know if there was a safer way to remove the stains without messing up the paint or creating a larger stain. What would you recommend washing/cleaning dirt of walls with?

Mr. Clean Miracle eraser.
Murphy's Oil Soap will not harm painted surfaces.
The new paint on your walls has probably not had time to cure yet. Wipe the spots with a wash cloth and mild diltued dish soap. I would wait for about a month until the paint cures to use a stronger cleaning method.
