My office walls have smudge marks that look white on the dark blue paint. Any time I touch the walls I leave a mark. (Paint was here when I bought the house ;) Any ideas? How can I wash a wall that has flat paint without leaving wipe marks?
You will have to wash the whole wall, and when it dries, it should all look the sameHow can I wash a wall that has flat paint without leaving wipe marks?
Mr. Clean has a small sponge looking cleaning pad it is incredible for cleaning flat walls. If the wall is really messed up it is easy to just go get the paint and paint over. Save time and hassle.

What's a good product for washing painted walls?

I used to use Murphy's Oil Soap to periodically wash the interior walls of my house, but I can not find it here in Australia. I've looked around at the supermarket, but can't seem to find a good safe product for washing my painted walls. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions? ThanksWhat's a good product for washing painted walls?
Plain White Vinegar and water mix about fifty/fifty ratio then put in a empty clean spray bottle and just spray and wipe walls this will clean off dirt and smudges marks and all without the use of bucket and mops and spongesWhat's a good product for washing painted walls?

You can use TSP or it may be known as Sugar Soap in some places.

I like to use Baking Soda and you can combine it with vinegar for more cleaning power.

Another good one is to use White Toothpaste (not gel) on hard to clean spots...it will get a variety of things off the walls and even gets crayon off of sofas (personal expierence there)

Um, liquid dish soap is good for an all over cleaning. I have used Murphy's oil soap on a variety of things like wood cabinets but, have not tried it on walls. I migth have to now.

You can also use Fels Napatha Soap for a variety of cleaning projects...including Laundry (which is what it was originally made for) but, I have used it on other things as well.
Here's a homemade solution - the ammonia helps cut any greasy residue on walls, esp. in or near the kitchen:

Homemade Cleaning Solution

Ingredients:

1 gallon warm water

1/2 cup ammonia

1/4 cup white vinegar

1/4 cup baking soda

Combine the ingredients in a bucket.

Place the drop cloth on the floor underneath the wall.

Dip the sponge in the homemade solution until it's thoroughly wet.

Start at the bottom of the wall and be sure to move the sponge in a circular motion. Be sure to rinse the sponge regularly.

Note: It's best to start at the bottom of the wall because runs are easier to clean.

Never stop washing in the middle of the wall. Keep washing across the entire wall to eliminate any ';tide'; marks (figure B), which can show right where you started or stopped.
Things You鈥檒l Need:

Dry-sponges

Liquid Dish Soap

Soft-bristled Brush

Sponges

Terry Cloth Towels

Old Newspapers

2 Buckets

Ladders

Step1

Protect your floors with newspapers or towels.

Step2

Brush cobwebs and dust from the wall with a soft-bristled brush.

Step3

Remove any remaining dirt with a dry-sponge - a rubber sponge available at most hardware stores. Rub the dry-sponge along the wall to lift dirt from it.

Step4

Fill a bucket about three-quarters full with warm water.

Step5

Add a small amount of dish soap - about as much as it takes to clean a sink full of dishes - to the bucket. This will be the cleaning bucket.

Step6

Place a second, empty bucket near the cleaning bucket. (You'll use this when you wring out the cleaning sponge.)

Step7

Dip a small portion of the flat face of a sponge into the cleaning bucket until it is damp.

Step8

Spread the cleaning solution on the wall with the sponge, beginning at the top and working toward the bottom. Use a ladder to reach the high spots on the wall.

Step9

Squeeze - but do not wring out - the sponge over the empty bucket after wetting the entire surface of the wall.

Step10

Blot the surface of the wall you've just cleaned to lift any further dirt from its surface.

Step11

Repeat this process until you have covered the wall.

Step12

Dry the wall using a terry cloth towel.
Tri Sodium Phosphate, TSP the stuff works like a miracle on walls it even got red candle dye out of my light beige wool carpet. I washed my walls because it's supposed to be a paint prep and the wall looked so good I didn't have to paint and I was cleaning soot off as I burned wood the stuff is amazing and you can buy it in a hardware store and it's really inexpensive. Cleans everything including built up grease.
Trisodium phosphate (TSP), available at most hardware stores in white powder form, is a cleaning agent, stain remover and degreaser, commonly used to prepare surfaces for painting.

Any tips for pressure washing outdoor walls?

We need to wash the outside of our house - It's paint over siding, 2 story, painted 7 years ago but the paint looks new (Sherwin Williams Duration). Any tips you've got to offer? Is there a threshold of pressure above which the paint will be stripped off? What are good detergents or chemicals for green mold? thanks!Any tips for pressure washing outdoor walls?
try a test spot with Tide laundry soap a soft brush and the garden hose. I don't think you'll need to use a pressure washer. the wetting agents in the soap should help rinse without streaking. If the mold is on your siding the tide should work well. If it's on the interior you need to disinfect with a product like Lysol and control humidityAny tips for pressure washing outdoor walls?
Rent a sprayer with large nozzle for high areas and mix ';JO MAX HOUSE CLEANER'; (found in most wal-marts) with bleach and water (1cup of JO MAX %26amp; 1 cup bleach to 2 gallons water). Spray area to be clean and let soak for approx 2 minutes than power wash. If it did not clean as good let soak for 4 min than power wash. Do not force power washer to clean by placing washer inches away from wall. It will definitely peel the paint away. Been there done that. Place wand of washer approx 18'; or more from surface. The key is to provide more cleaning solution not power. Good Luck.
I have never pressure washer painted siding, but i have used a pressure washer, i own one, all i can tell you is if was me i won't do it, i know the damage a pressure washer can do, i will advice you, to do it with a regular hose, and scrub the mold off, it will take more time but it will save you from repainting the siding if it gets damage, good luck

I had the green mildew problem too. A couple days ago I took a pump up sprayer and mixed bleach and water 50/50 and sprayed it. This kills the mold/mildew. Carfeul with a pressure washer you can strip the paint off if you get too close.
Get a garden hose and some biodegradable soap.
Make sure you wear some kind of eye protection when doing that job.

IDK it all depends on what your using them for. And how much you can spend.

    Hope this helped!!!

What do you use to wash mold off of walls?

A 50-50 mix of bleach and water should get rid of it.

BUT if you have mold on the outside of your wall, you could have it inside your walls. Especially if the mold comes back quickly. If thats the case the mold needs to be torn out and replaced.

You should have a professional come in and look at it. Some places will do free or low cost estimates for you. What do you use to wash mold off of walls?
I use Clorox clean-up. (Yes the cheap stuff works just as good...buy off brand.) The bleach kills the mold. Depends on the wall. It might hurt the wall if your not careful.

You might try spraying it on small areas at a time and then have a bucket of clean water to wipe it off immediately. That should help a lot. What do you use to wash mold off of walls?
Bleach/water solution and let the wall dry out and always keep a window or door open in that room. Mold will not return.
Bleach, but if it got up inside the walls you need to have the affected area cut out %26amp; replaced.
Depends on sort of mould. Soapy water, then wipe dry usually works. If damp is the cause, find the source and remedy that.
    CLOROX AND WATER DELUTE IT

When housecleaning, do you wash your walls?

Why %26amp; how? When housecleaning, do you wash your walls?
Just use soap and water. Usually, the only walls in your house that will need cleaning are in the kitchen where food splatters a lot. If you look closely at the fronts of the cupboards below waist level, you'll usually notice a lot of food spots.

If there's a smoker in the house, all the walls will be tinted yellow. You won't notice it until you start washing it off and see the color underneath. When housecleaning, do you wash your walls?
If I am in the mood I do, or if there is something on them, probably once a month I will clean the walls, I get 2 Magic Erasers w/ Febreeze (Mr. Clean) and get them wet... go walking around rubbing the walls down with them 2 Hands 2 Erasers works much faster. They are amazing.
absolutely - but usually only around door frames. and doors too. and only a few times a year. dirt and grime build up on those areas too. just like any other surface. personally, i just use a damp rag. that seems to do it. maybe a little dish soap for darker (dirtier) areas.
No not really. If there is a dirt spot or something i was my walls with soap in water, and the walls that are white i was with bleach and water. If you have a very hard spot to get out i recommend mr clean dry magic eraser. Or goo gone!
No, not unless there is a mark or something. But walls do get dusty and to take care of that you can use the swiffer sweeper with the cloths. It works really fast and doesnt let dust fly around everywhere.

Im moing into a new place soon, how do I wash the painted walls and then the wooden walls? Im scarred to stain

Use Murphy's Oil Soap to wash wood work. Call a paint store for their suggestions for washing painted walls. Find out if the paint is flat or satin or whatever finish before you wash it. If your talking about your old place check with the manager before you start doing anything. They usually expect you to empty the apartment entirely of your belongings.. and the frig should be clean and the bathroom.

They usually shampoo the rugs after you leave. if you have lived there more than a year they will most likely paint the place again. So dont' worry about walls unless they are really bad. The manager will tell you what to do and what not to do.
Mr. Clean magic eraser. I got a sample box and figured they were a joke so they sat in my cabinet for like a year. I had to wash our walls when we were moving out of our apartment and they worked like....well...magic!
